Children from Catholic communities across Malawi gathered at Don Bosco Parish, Lilongwe for the inaugural National Children’s Congress, held from July 31 to August 4, 2025. Several buses loaded with excited children from the Archdiocese of Blantyre departed for Lilongwe, with Limbe Cathedral serving as a central departure point and symbolically connecting the southern faithful to the national event. The congress brought together over 1,400 children and animators from all eight dioceses, marking a historic moment for the Catholic Church in Malawi.
During the congress, children participated in lively faith-building sessions, cultural performances, choir festivals, sports, workshops on morality and Catholic doctrine, and discussions on national development and child protection. The joyful atmosphere was evident as the children left Limbe Cathedral, their faces filled with excitement and hope for strengthening their faith together with peers from around the country.
