Vincent Mwakhwawa, on Saturday presided over the launch of the National Day for the Laity held at Corpus Christi Parish in Ntcheu, Diocese of Dedza. Held under the theme “Christians, Missionaries of Hope: Be Converted and Live,” the celebration sought to inspire the laity to live out their faith in daily life and to strengthen their participation in the Church’s mission.
National Laity Council Chairperson Hastings Dowe expressed gratitude to the bishops and reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to working with clergy and lay movements to build stronger faith communities and promote local ownership of Church initiatives.
The National Day for the Laity will be celebrated annually on 22nd October, coinciding with the Feast of St. John Paul II, Patron Saint of the Laity in Malawi.
